About the role

LR requires a carer support worker to assist her on a 24-hour basis. This will involve taking an active role in working with her to attend appointments, encourage mild exercise, accompanying her with shopping, and liaising with appointed therapy professionals.

Working hours are available for those interested in full time working and will include cover at weekends and daytime hours as well as overnight sleep ins 2 days per week. The contracts will be for 40 hours per weekdays and weekends. Rate of pay will start at £12.50 progressing to £14.00 per hour.

A private case manager is involved, working alongside LR and family. A full induction training programme will be organised to familiarise the successful candidate with LR’s family and complete training on her therapy programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To assist LR with accessing the community, food shopping, clothes shopping, and encouraging her to engage in suitable and social and leisure activities.
  • To be available to accompany LR on family holidays both in the UK and abroad.
  • To accompany LR in any appointments during your shift
  • To promote a healthy and well-balanced diet, in conjunction with her family
  • To promote LR’s wellbeing and happiness.
  • To support LR with all aspects of her personal care including bathing, dressing and toileting.
  • To maintain a safe environment for LR in her home and in all community-based activities (subject to completion of risk assessment training).
  • To follow support programmes agreed with LR, family, case manager and therapists.
  • To promote a clean environment
  • To advise the family, or where appropriate the case manager of any concerns regarding LR’s physical and psychological health.
  • To use initiative when unforeseen events occur, and the family / case manager are not directly available to provide guidance.
  • To work as an individual responsible to the case manager and to ensure good communication, flexibility, and a consistent approach to care.
  • To attend meetings and training sessions as requested.
  • To make a daily report following each duty regarding LR’s welfare.
  • To liaise with the case manager for annual leave requests and alert the family and case manager of sickness that will prevent them working, in order that cover can be organised.
  • To report to the case manager regarding general progress and any incidents that give rise for concern.
  • To respect the privacy of LR. All matters relating to the client’s situation and family are to be treated as confidential and are not to be disclosed to a third party.

Qualifications & Experience

A full clean driving license is essential for this post.

  • You should have a diploma in Health and Social Care level 2/NVQ or equivalent.
  • The Post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure, an employment background check, 2 satisfactory references and verification of the right to work in the UK. All employees are also required to be aged 18 and over for this position
